Garcia auditioning for teams

If your team did not get the starting pitcher it needed at the trade deadline, have no fear. Freddy Garcia, who hasn't thrown a meaningful pitch in the big leagues since last season, is scheduled to throw in front of a number of teams this afternoon at the University of Miami.

Garcia was just 1-5 last season for the Philadelphia Phillies before being shut down with a shoulder injury which required reconstructive surgery. Supposedly he is close to being ready. He would obviously need a few rehab starts, so a mid-September return would be the most likely scenario.

I don't know when I hear a shoulder injury for a pitcher that usually spells trouble.

But, then again he is money in the postseason, having gone 6-2 in nine playoff starts. I guess I would take a flyer on him.
