Kerry Wood was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
Wood, who will be available for this afternoon's tilt with the Houston Astros, hasn't pitched since before the All-Star break because of a blister on on his right index finger.
Selected to the All-Star Game, Wood has gone 4-2 with 24 saves in 29 opportunities and a 3.02 earned-run average in 44 appearances this season.
To make room on the roster for Wood the Cubs designated lefty Scott Eyre for assignment.
