The Toronto Blue Jays have placed left-handed rookie Ricky Romero on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique muscle strain. The move is retro-active to April 20, the day after he pitched seven scoreless innings in a victory against Oakland.
Romero has been sensational for the Blue Jays in the early-going, posting a 2-0 mark to go along with a team-leading 1.71 earned run average in three starts. He has surrendered just four runs and 19 hits in 21 innings this season.
The 24-year-old Romero had been the Blue Jays first round selection - sixth overall - in the 2005 first year player draft.
