Dmitri Young outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse

The Washington Nationals have outrighted first baseman Dmitri Young to Triple-A Syracuse. You can look at this move in a number of differnet ways. One, they may just be trying to clear room on the 40-man roster to protect someone from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. Or two, that he chose to go this route rather than elect for free agency since no team is going to pay him the $5 million the Nationals owe him this season.

The Washington Times' Mark Zuckerman sums it up pretty well here.
