The Philadelphia Phillies added a much-needed left-handed bat on Friday, as they apparently plucked outfielder Matt Stairs from the Toronto Blue Jays for a prospect.
Stairs was hitting .258 this season with 11 home runs and 44 RBI for the Jays, who designated him for assignment following their loss to the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday.
Philadelphia had been linked to Mark Kotsay before he was shipped to Boston on Wednesday.
Of course, nothing is official, but if Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal is reporting it, you can take it to the bank.
