The Detroit Tigers today made some moves, as they placed outfielder Carlos Guillen on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. They also recalled infielder Jeff Larish from Triple-A Toledo.
In addition, the Tigers recalled outfielder Clete Thomas from the Mud Hens and optioned lefty Clay Rapada to Toledo.
Guillen has struggled mightily this season for the Tigers, hitting hitting .200 with four doubles and six RBI in 24 games for the Tigers. Larish, meanwhile, hit .368 with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI in five games with the Mud Hens.
Larish was 3-for-17 in limited action with the Tigers this season.
Thomas saw action in 23 games with the Mud Hens, batting .236 with seven doubles, a triple, home run, 10 RBI and seven stolen bases.
Rapada had appeared in two games with Detroit after being recalled from Toledo on April 28, allowing two runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
