Beltran to undergo MRI on knee

Carlos Beltran will have an MRI performed on his ailing right knee. The knee, which apparently has been bothering him the last week, caused Beltran to serve as the team's designated hitter against the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.

Beltran ran before Monday's win over the Washington Nationals and told manager Jerry Manuel he could play the field. He finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The 32-year-old Beltran leads the Mets with a .367 average, six homers and 31 RBI.
