A-Rod out 10 weeks

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez will reportedly need hip surgery and could be sidelined for about 10 weeks.

Rodriguez was in Vail, Colorado on Wednesday to visit a hip specialist after an MRI exam earlier this week revealed the formation of a cyst. He had been experiencing hip tightness during spring training.

According to ESPN, Rodriguez's brother, Joe, told ESPN Deportes.com that surgery was recommended and that rehab would take about 10 weeks. The network also reported that the surgery would take place Monday.

Rodriguez, who recently admitted to using steroids while a member of the Texas Rangers from 2001-03, was set to play for the Dominican Republic during the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
